I turned 51 last Friday. During the day I grabbed the camera and took my own picture. Wanted to document what 51 looks like, and dang I wish I could go back a decade or two (hate the wrinkles and bags under the eyes) but oh well I'm coming to terms with the fact that I've definitely lived more than is ahead, at least according to the actuary tables. For my b-day I asked simply that my family spend some time with me w/the TV off, the phones put away, and a boardgame on the table. Basically I wanted some old-fashioned time w/my loved ones. I got my wish, except that Tony bugged out early after eating a slice of pizza and getting his position established on the board. I love to play games and visit.

Margaret, happy belated birthday! You look great!!! I just got back from driving grandpa to Mexico. Left on Sunday in his truck and drove until Monday night. Great Grandma is ill with kidney problems so he wanted to get there quickly. No planes or buses. He was determined to drive. We wouldn't let him drive alone, so I drove with him and flew home today. It was a lovely trip. He is an easy companion. He will stay as long as he wishes and then I will fly back and drive home with him. I was able to go into Meixco yesterday and visit the family. Grandma looks pretty sick and said that she is ready to depart this life. Poor little thing. I hope she gets her wish as she is 97.
that's weird...i had thought you were like, um, 34? seriously. i'm bad at the age game...oh well. happy belated birthday! and, hm, i do want to visit you soon....what shall we do?
