A Beautiful Day in Riverton

Got to talk to Victor this mornng as he awaited to board his plane, not for long, five minutes actually, but it was great.  He called and talked to Jared, well tried his cell phone first (but J had it on vibrate in his room), so called the house phone, then caught dad at work, then grandparents (said after listening to grandpa on his soapbox about nuclear/coal plants for 10 minutes, he decided to move on) and finally called home, thought he had 30 minutes to talk, but had to get off after five.  I'm still doing the happy-mom dance.

Funny:  I sent him a calling card and he said that every time he dialed a number it cost $1 from his card (was a $10 card), so he got mad and used his debit card.  What he doesn't know is that I checked his card to see if he had any overage charges for luggage and he got charged $16 every time he swiped his debit card to make a call.  Ouch.  Pretty much depleted his "emergency fund."

It's a gorgeous fall day.  After my talk w/V, I went around my route of the neighborhood delivering some RS stuff.  I'm now headed outside to do some weeding, which are definitely thriving.  Since J has gone back to school and V has left on his mission, I don't have any guys to send out for their 30-minute daily assignment.  Ouch again.

A Soon-to-be Graduate

I'm sure that you already know and love Victor, but by way of introduction this picture speaks much.

Utes fan, as in the University of Utah

One heck of a basketball player.

Likes, nay loves, golf.

Angels Rally Monkey, his favorite baseball team,

oh,

and man of faith, going to declare the gospel of Christ within the Des Moines, Iowa, mission

and

soon to be a graduate of Riverton High School

We Love Our Missionaries

Tony was days away from his half-way mark, so we signed a banner and got it in the mail, AND Victor received his call to serve in Des Moines, Iowa, leaving May 31. He had a bunch of his friends come over and had a pizza party.

Trip to Cali--April

During spring break we headed off to CAli for a few days of R&R, much needed I must say. I did a pretty poor job of taking pictures of the people we love (slapping myself), but did manage to get a few, including Angela, Ethan and Liz. Sure do love these people.

Got to tour the Midway Aircraft Carrier--lots of fun

Not to mention a baseball game in San Diego, Padres vs. Phillies.

some time at the San Diego Zoo--we had to flex some muscles to get R to join us, but he finally relaxed and had a good time.

Ladies, heart be still. This is my son, my TEENAGE son, who has worked hard for these muscles and was glad that the sun came out for a few hours so that he could play in the water.

Jared burying Victor. We did the same to Jared.

Another evening at the baseball park, this time the Angels (Vic's favorite baseball team) vs. the Boston Red Sox (lost by a point), but we became enamored with the rally monkey.

Love Sunday

Just a quick catch-up note. Yup, it's been way too long. It's January which means looking out the window while sitting at my desk (thank you Jared for cleaning the window yesterday so that I can see) brings beautiful blue skies (thanks for the wind yesterday which blew away the valley gunk) and white mountains--absolutely gorgeous.

Didn't go to church last week due to a case of bronchitis which threw me to the mat and kept me there long term, but I'm back and really enjoyed church even more today. I can't imagine spending my Sundays not worshipping. It's such a part of my routine, my life, my style and I'm grateful for that. Even though my day started w/7:15 ward council and still is going strong, it's a great day.

So Tony is doing well. I just wrote him his weekly email which he receives on Monday. He is headed into the city today (currently serves in rural Clinton) for a DL meeting tomorrow and then LTM Tuesday through Friday. Tony has a new companion, an Elder Adair from LA. They've been together for the past couple weeks and I think that they're doing just great together. Apparently Elder Adair is a Lakers' fan, so that's a reason right there for them to mesh, plus he's a Spanish-speaking elder. Oops--just tried to insert picture here and it's on top. Oh well.
Victor is working Saturday reffing Jr. Jazz. It gets him out of the house for most of the day and more importantly puts some bucks in his pocket. Bishop emailed me this past week stating that he gave V the codes for him to start his missionary application. Wow, I'm not ready for this.
Jared has really been growing these past few months. He's my gazelle, skinny w/long legs.
Well, I'm off for now. Got to go figure out something to feed my family. Got out a roast yesterday, but it's still frozen in the fridge, plus didn't have time to get it in the crockpot this morning, so... Anyway, my guys are lounging or sleeping, waiting for the maid (ugh, hate that) to take care of them. One day I'm just going to run away.
